As Head of Social Media you will be responsible for all content going out across Secret Network Websites and social pages, making sure it maintains an exceptional standard, the brand’s tone of voice and aesthetic. You will be managing an international team of writers, as well as contributing to Secret Network’s engaging content yourself. You will be comfortable with analysing data and audience insight to develop/build upon communication strategies which continue to drive the website’s reach, page views and audience engagement. On top of this, you will be commercially minded, working with the business development team to pitch, plan and create sponsored campaigns with brands and partners.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the entire editorial schedule, as well as ensuring content on all social media channels run like clockwork.
  • Ensure the tone, aesthetic and editorial topics meet high standards and fit with the Secret Network brand/personality in all the cities.
  • Manage and organise a team of writers, focusing on workflow, organisation and creative strategy.
  • Onboard/hire writers/bloggers/interns who add value to the Secret Network team, as well as manage freelancer commissions and payments.
  • Track KPIs (reach, pageviews, engagement) to ensure growth of following.
  • Use data-driven audience insights to develop and build communication strategies to ultimately hit KPI targets.
  • Have a commercial drive; working closely with Secret Network’s Brands and Business Development team to pitch, create and manage sponsored campaigns with partners/brands.
  • Manage inbox and inbounds, hand-picking what will work best on the site, as well as maintaining/building key relationships with PR/media agencies and brands.
  • Report revenue earned through display ads on site.
  • Have an astute understanding and desire to seek out the newest, most effective ways to reach audience across all platforms, to ensure we stay ahead of competitors.
  • Liaise with the international Editors within Secret Network (Madrid, Barcelona, NYC, etc) to share findings, insights and strategies.


  • Relevant experience writing for or working within a media publisher/large website.
  • Knowledge and passion for Local Content
  • Maintain web site and section pages, including headline writing, content placement, on-site presentation, and social-media content tie-ins
  • Develop and analyze audience-growth strategies
  • Manage social media strategies including Facebook and Facebook Live
  • Knowledge of CMS (WordPress)
  • Capable of using Facebook Business Manager, Hootsuite, Google Analytics.
  • Ability to use Photoshop
  • Superb writing skills and creative flair
